Sun & Surf (and you can enter to win something)

If you want to be entered in the "drawing" for this Hawaiian pin cushion (cute, in'it?) please tell me why you want it in the comment box. I will "draw" a winner next Friday (July 24).

We went on a little trip to Bellows Air Force Base today for a command picnic. Here's one tunnel leading into . . .
. . . this tunnel (they were short and sweet) . . .
. . . that popped us out on the other side . . .
. . . and I captured a nice one out the window of the moving van.
Here's the beach we were at . . .
. . . another look at pretty much the same part.
To my left was this lovely sight.
In front of me were my fish: Chief (the extreme white dude in the water), Teenie and Crickles.Squirrel Boy and I enjoyed watching this complete "no regards to safety, life or limb" dude go back and forth on this contraption. After a bit, SB and I agreed it looked like fun. Although, I'm sure it makes for one helluva shoulder burn later (rotator cuffs unite!).
We drove the long way 'round back to Honolulu. Wait! Is that a eggshell coloured Mini? Oh, I want one of those. So cute.
Nifty rocks.
We were on the shore farthest away, but liked looking out over this beach.
The boys planning ways to climb down to the shore.
The girl searching for tiny yellow flowers.
No, I did not go in the water. I hardly ever do. My hair does have that waxy beach feel to it though and I did not have to go in the water to get it. YUCK.

It was a beautiful place . . . nice a cool. Windward.

So, now that you have been bedazzled by the lovely pictures, don't forget to leave a comment about why you want that pin cushion, unless you don't. You can still comment though, because I like what you have to say.

Another new look? You don't seem the lacy type....I love that turtle on top!!!

Please don't draw my name, what would I do with a pin cushion? I rarely sew and when I do, I don't use pins!! :)

I love the pictures, I can just imagine myself on those beaches, looks so lovely!!

I am bedazzled! The pictures are gorgeous! I hope you are feeling blessed by your location, unless of course, fear of the exploding volcano is fore in your mind! In which case I will pray for your safety!

Your pictures are beautiful. I loved Bellows when I visited there. Just beautiful. One of my best memories from Hawaii was getting up early, walking from the cabins to the beach and enjoying the sunrise..then sitting on the beach, watching the sunset and listening to the surf.
I love the pin cushion. I would put it front and center on my shelf and tell everyone that my bestest girl friend sent it to me from Hawaii!(pronounced Ha-vai-heee) :) enter me in. Love love love the cookies friend. Hubby and I enjoyed some last night. Yum..He loves the coffee ones.

I love the pictures! Looks like it was a beautiful day!

I would love to win the pin cushion! I could certainly use one that is more fashionable than my little ole tomato one!

I need a pincushion in the worst way....

Looking forward to your moving into your house. Are you still going to be on Ford Island?

I would love the pincushion. Then maybe my children will learn where to put pins...

Jamie - I'm a multifaceted human being; lace only some of the time. I have a very girly girly side now and again. :)

Anne - if I lived on the Big Island, I would worry a bit about the volcano. All the craters here are done. We do get the vog (volcano smoke/ash) now and again from what one of my kids doctors said).

Dawn - we plan on renting a cabin there probably next spring or so. It will be fun and beautiful. I think I can "stand" it about four days . . . I do not know how to relax properly. Glad you're all enjoying the cookies. They're really good!!

Therese - I'm actually going to learn how to make some pin cushions some day. They can be really neat gifts or just cute things on the shelf. After the drawing, I'll share a pic of the one I got myself that has a measuring tape in it. I would do a drawing for it, but it was made in China . . . I want to give away something made here. :)

Adrienne - Yup, Ford Island. :) Just a few short weeks of waiting. I can't wait!

Paula - yes, the kiddos need to know where they are to go and put them there. I love pin cushions (I have a tomato . . . and one I'll share in a later post) and I still drop the dern things in the carpet. I've been lucky to find every single one I've dropped, but it's not easy! And, I want to stop putting them in the sofa arm. :)

Hmmm, why do I want the pincushion?
Because I am greedy and I like to win things, that is why. Also because it is so cute and cheerful.
Love the pictures. Stan and I are going to Kaui in January. Can hardly wait. Probably will be in the middle of rainy season, but at least I have gotten him to commit to going.

We spent lots of time on Bellows Beach. One of my fave pics of my dad was taken there--he loved Hawaii. Your post (and pics) brings back some wonderful memories, Sarah. :o)

BTW, the "nifty rocks" in your picture are Rabbit (Manana) and Turtle (Kaohikaipu) Islands.

Is it too late to enter the contest for the pincushion? I want it because I need one, and it reminds me of our time on O'ahu. :o)

G2many - you so crack me up! I hope you and Stan have a sunny holiday on Kaui. I'm sure it will be gorgeous - just to get away! And, anyway, if it does rain it still is warmer than WA, yeah?

Kalona - it's not too late to join in. I'm glad that my pictures are bringing back good memories for you. And, that is cool that you know the names of those little islands. how long did you live here and when?
