Today's Energy Crisis & The Cure

Copious amounts, copious amounts!
I finished the laundry/ironing last night. I had a surprise visit by a friend (the one I took to lunch the other day - that was fun). We are re-connecting after they moved to San Antonio (they are back up here for a couple of years then back that way - maybe, if things go according to plan). But, it's great to re-connect. I'm her youngest son's godmother. I'm encouraging her to return to Mass (sit with us) and come to Soup and Stations on Friday. Please keep her in your prayers!
Anyway, I did so much ding-dong running about yesterday, I didn't vacuum or clean the half bathroom. So, that's going "down" today. I'm moving all my work to the next day. I hate it when I have to shuffle this stuff . . . but you know how plans are: they make God laugh!
I'm glad I took time Monday to look through Crickles (youngest son) school work - he was WAY behind in his English and he wasn't even doing his science. He said he was - but he had finished his science book last quarter and should have been in his Health book. I did not enjoy calling him out on that, but the boy does.not.pay.attention. He's very quick to say he's done with his daily work . . . but what about tests? I have to stay on top of it for him! Okay, he's only eleven and a boy - he's thinking about far better things, yeah?
How do you get a teenage girl to go to bed at night so she'll get up before 8am every day? You FORCE her out of bed every day - she's proving a tough nut to crack, God help me!
Hence: copious amounts of coffee. Bring on another pot!

Thanks for the great laugh. Loved seeing those coffee cups in respect to the title!

Here at the Totus Tuus Academy we all sit at a round table. My kids are 13, 11, 7 and 4 and nothing would get done if I didn't SIT WITH them, direct them, make all corrections immediately and be the final reviewer to check off each assignment. :)

After school, we clean together/do chores.

I *know* that this is the only way God has found to offer me sanctification, through this hard work as I would not be so willing in any other area of my life to work hard, but for my children.

I am a tough nut also. I cannot get to bed till 1130pm and my tushie will not move in the morning.

Take something that hurts away from her..I mean if this is getting to be a bad habit and you are all arguing over it..its just a thought and then perhaps she'll get back on track. ??

You better stay on the younger guy NOW while his is young and keep him in the habit of good note taking and checking that homework before he goes to bed. I am telling you from one with experience. You don't even want to know how much homework my just now 15 yr. old has NOT turned in.
It is sad, it is embarrassing, and he continues to choose to be a failure in this area..I'm done with feeling bad about it or as if I didn't teach him well..he's had 6 flippin months to adjust to school. Most of the time he has the attitude of a middle school kid instead of a high school kid.
I even took into consideration that he didn't get to go to middle school and so therefore he is living out his dream...the dream has turned into a nightmare.
I hate to sound so pessimistic about your teens, but nip what you can in the bud, sister...now. Help em make good habits with that with that lovable funny personality you have and I hope you do better than me. God bless!
Where's my cup? :)

All - yes, I plan on sitting by his side daily to make sure he's on top of things. The girl is a pain in the neck of late, but I shall be doing the same with her. Nip it in the bud!

Now, let us have another cuppa!
