Delay In Posting Pictures 'Cos I'm Daft, Y'all!
Here's Hols . . . I'll be taking her for a walk after I post this. She has been super patient with me today (all the baking and crafting, you see).
These are flip flops my husband thought were perfect for me since I told him more than once I'd love to have a Chief t-shirt (I'm serious, but I'd never wear it and he know this, 'cos I'm not a Chief so I won't/can't). But, I can wear these around the house. The plastic between the toes is really rather painful, though, so they won't get worn out any time soon. He got them at a Chief Selectee fundraiser here in Pearl Harbor.
The rosary I put together today for my brother. I'm not necessarily praying for him to be a Christian, as he already is. He may not be formally practicing as a Lutheran (as raised), but he will defend Christianity and FAMILY to the death. Really, he's a wonderful man. Anyhoo, I asked him if he'd feel pressured to be Catholic if I made him one and he said, "Nope." I think he'll like it.
The camera is getting wonky. Needs batteries again, I reckon. So, the pics are blurry. P'raps it's me as I'm using the lap top and I pushed some dang button and the screen is big (as in for the uber blind . . . and I can't figure out how to make it normal again). Here's some of those chocolate mint cookies. Oh, yeah.
Thanks for your patience (the two of you who wanted to see pics). This is the loaf I baked today. Yesterday's looked better, in comparison. I had more confidence with this one then, but managed to make it look more like a super brown mushroom top. It's spring-y, though, which means there's some goodness inside. It smells great!
I bought some King Arthur's whole wheat flour at the commissary yesterday. There's a recipe on the back so I'll be using it . . . even if it's a tad more work to use my arms as kneeders rather than gadetry. T'is just as well. I need to burn some calories from what I'm sucking in at this point.

Great post, Sarah!! I love the photos! First of all, the cookies and bread look divine! I wish I could smell them! Actually...I really wish I could taste them, but, oh well!
The Rosary is gorgeous! You do great work!
Holly is just too cute! And I love the slippers!
P.S. if I get some measurements I can get to sewing! ;)
I know what I didn't do to the bread: cut it with the knife in three places - gives it definition or something. ha ha ha!
This is the Artesian, Sarah?
How was it? I gotta do this.
What about adding jalepenos and cheese..I had some homemade bread by Amish that has this in it and oh my my!!!! :)
Your baked goods look yummy! Now I want those cookies even more than before!!!
Suz, yuppers. It's the artisan bread. It's pretty dang good, too. I'll have a slice with my minestrone soup tonight.
Thanks, all. Do go buy those chips a'fore they're all sold out . . . Okay, "morsels". That words is hilarious.
did you bake this bread on the pizza stone? just wondering, if not, what did you use?
I love pictures. The rosary is beautiful! And YUM...would ya mail me some of those cookies?! lol. Your many talents astound me.
Dawn, yes, I baked it on a pizza stone. You know how the directions say to let it rest/rise on a pizza skiff (that flat metal thing?) then slide the bread onto the stone in the oven? Well, my first loaf wouldn't slide so it went in wonky. From now on, I just let it rest on an unheated stone on the burners while the oven is heating up . . . it made no difference in the outcome. Now, this loaf started to burn a bit, so 25 minutes is too long in my electric oven. So, at 15 minutes, check check check your loaf.
Brandie - well, when you get to be my age (and I pray you do!!!) you start to pick up things. he he he. HUGS.
Oh and I love the rosary too! WoW!
Father Corapi says...PRAY THE ROSARY..no matter if ya feel like it or not...just like exercise..like ANYTHING we have to do around the house, etc...JUST DO IT! ;)
Love ya!
Looks like you've been doing good work. Love the rosary.
I wouldn't mind hanging and sucking up some calories with ya! That homemade food looks mighty yum yum.
Bread is always my downfall. I need butter on it. Yummy melting butter and honey!!
Love the rosary for your bro!
Oh my!!! If it weren't so expensive to send it, I'd order a loaf!!! It looks seriously delicious!!! Cathy
bread!
great!
you did it!
and king arthur's is the greatest wonderfulest flour ever. it is hard to use anything else once you start.
check out their website for neverending bread recipes.
you'll have to live on a treadmill though if you eat all the stuff they've got on there!
but i did want you to know that you inspired me.
i've made bread every day this week since sun. but i am cheating because i've been using the breadmaker. and i must say it is awfully nice to wake up to fresh bread at around midnight every nite. i take it out. tuck it away for morning. and the kids and i have been eating bread with jam and tea for breakfasts. and we're not even sick of it yet!
thanks for your inspiration sweet friend!
hugs to ya.
and happy crafting too!
