Well, I got an interesting phone call the other morning. It was Dawn calling to inform me that I would have to go downtown Honolulu to get my birthday present from Fiddlesticks (a new-found lovely shop!). Hurrah!
I love Dawn.
I love presents.
I love crafts.
I am addicted to cross stitch again.
I got three crafts. One is a beginner kit that I used to teach Teenie how to cross stitch. So far, she is holding up swell. See, she had to already make two fixes. The kit teaches the knot technique, which I told her she could do, but it is better to not start out that way and create a habit that you do not want to use on more advanced kits. She's quite chuffed with her kitty and ball of yarn. I'll post pics when she's done. *knot tech: knotting rather than tucking the string behind stitches (tucking is cleaner). * She will backstitch tomorrow. It was fun to teach her some time saving techniques I had to learn myself over time. She's really good at listening and figuring it out and being patient with me.
The two other kits are ornaments. One will be a gift for someone and the other will be for me (a coffee cup). Pictures when done, of course. It may be a bit of time before I share those as I'm in love IN LOVE with the Hawaiian flower patterns I got the other day. Of course, I have to set them aside when the lighting goes wonky as the sky smolders gray and the rain pours! I am stitching yellow ginger - the light yellow on the cream canvas was enough to make me cry. I shall finish this one tomorrow (lighting in the evening isn't so great). The ornaments require some beading. A new "thang" for me.
SO, Dawn, my dear friend, thank you SO MUCH for thinking of me and giving me this great opportunity to shop at Fiddlesticks again. One of the gals there, Joan, is very helpful and delightful to chit chat with, too!
Many blessings!

This was great but I NEED pictures...I did think they would pop up at the end, sigh. The kits sound so good and it is fun to see someone acquire a crafting skill.
blessings and hugs,
marcy
