The Thing Is . . .

. . . I have to stand before God one day . . .

. . . and I do not want to have to be denied Heaven because I couldn't control my temper on my blog over the President's talking to our kids about how they'll be labeled unproductive and unpatriotic if they don't graduate high school or go on to college.

Maybe some people's talents aren't about higher education.

In my humble opinion, God put us all here for a reason - His reason. All the better if we know what that is, as in what kind of job we'll have; all the greater if we follow His will for us in His planned vocation for us.

Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.

i just read that this morning...shame on him...as always...but you did keep your calm...and the LORD knows his heart and his agenda. so let it be...
and when did that girl of yours go and GROW UP...that has to STOP! she is as tall as her brother...you'd better watch out!

I hadn't heard/read any of his comments. My MIL asked, jokingly, if I was going to let our kids listen. I said probably not. The public schools out my way chose not to let students listen unless it was appropriate to the class (basically teachers were left to decide).

I agree with you; not all are cut out to attend college. Many are hard workers, learn as they go, and are productive members of society without the added expense of a college degree.

I could have gone in another direction with this, but at the heart of it, I believe the President is asking them to consider their education and its advantages. It can be, but it isn't everything since there are many unemployed (not just because they don't want a job either). In reality, I think few people want to just be lie-abouts.

Oh man I had my undies in a bundle when I heard about him talking to the kiddos. Can't he just let the parents be parents and the teachers be the teachers. I do not need him yapping at my kiddos on how to succeed. Success in my mind is heaven. If you lose that well.....

When I heard about this, I was unhappy ... But I didn't know exactly what his comments were about. I just didn't like the idea. Period. I agree, though, that not everyone is called to a 4-year degree, and those who aren't can still be hard-working and successful. With that said, though, the real goal isn't a good job. It's Heaven, like you and others have said. That is what I want my kids to know, and I am really grateful that is what their school focuses on!

It is very difficult for me to be patient with the President. It really is. What the heck was that school talk all about. I really do not understand what he is about. And when I do think I understand I have to repent for assigning motives to him (not very good motives) and for judging him. I am very worried about where he is taking the country and I don't think he shares the values of most Americans. That's fair to say, don't you think? You're not alone.
