A shoot shall spring up from the stump of Jesse, and out of his roots a flower shall blossom. The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him. - Isa 11:1-2
The birth of the Mother of God is the prelude to the union of the Word with flesh. Today the Virgin is born, tended and formed, and prepared for her role as Mother of God, Who is the Universal King of the ages. - St. Andrew of Crete
O Mary, the birth of Jesus from you was the dawn of our salvation. May the celebration of your birthday bring the world closer to lasting peace and redound to my salvation. Amen.

Happy Birthday, Beautiful Mother!
Amen and that was so precious, thank you.
Thanks for posting this, Sarah! I am beginning to really like this feast day, honoring the birth of Our Lady! I never celebrated it as a child, but I am enjoying doing so now with my children. So beautiful!
I love the new pic and header, design.

Thanks for the link. My kids went to school (I received no information as to whether the schools would show the taped version - we're six hours behind the speech, very early). My kids reported that they never watched anything; the high schooler said he had been given an opportunity to if he wanted during his TAP class, he declined - as did everyone else.
Shane said that the teachers were given the option if they wanted to do this and as far as he knew, noone viewed it.
