I want to and I don't want to go to this shindig tonight. My Squirrel Boy is only running a 99.2 degree "fever", but he's been lounging about all day and hardly eating. He says his throat is scratchy and dry, but feels lumpy toward the back (near his ears). Oh, and he feels achy. Not from dancing on Saturday night at a birthday party he went to kind of achy, but achy as in sick achy. Fun! Poor thing! It does not help that the weather can't make up it's bloody mind, although the rain is washing away tons of the pollen that was dumped upon us last week. Still. The forecast now through the weekend here (and in Stockbridge, MA) is rain and storms. UGH! The sun should appear on Sunday (at least in Stockbridge). I'm wondering about that trip to Stockbridge now, too.
There are people who will be disappointed if I do not go. I think they will only understand my absence if I am sick or my kids are sick. I want to go see the National Shrine of Divine Mercy and spend this quality time with my friends, but I'm a mamma first: and one of my babe's is ill. I'll get him an appointment tomorrow to rule out strep (I think it may be). If it (or whatever this is) makes its rounds, I may fall prey to it after I've nursed them through it and I'm on the road to Stockbridge. If any of my kids get strep (or it's ruled flu - any kind of flu) I won't go. Just to be safe. It stinks to be on the road and get sick - and be the cause of spreading this around 'cos I'm selfish about going.
Plus, you know, there's another issue with my going. A certain stupid visitor is coming. That's all.I'm.saying.about.that.
One time I got strep coming home from a road trip to my in-laws (Iowa). Someone in my MIL's neighbourhood had strep and came over and I cringed and protested and prophised that I would get it. Nowadays I try to keep a clamp on it. Well, two days later and on the road through Ohio, I was feverish and achy and feeling like the stuff you find at the bottom of an abandoned whatnot . . . I knew it was strep and I knew I was not.being.nice.talking.about.the.somebody.who.so.kindly.visited.with.the.deadly.disease.when.they.
could.have.stayed.home.dernit! Of course, I've been lucky in that there's nothing a doc can't fix with me just yet. Ooops! Here now, I must put a clamp on it!
The weather matches my foul mood to a "T", I tell you. It isn't that I'm grumpy, but I'm a bit cranky. I'm sick of the grey skies! It's so dismal!
To cheer myself earlier I made potato soup. That stuff is so good! I'm going to have it for dinner, too. It will be the last time I make it, I reckon, for a long while. It will be too hot in HI to eat it, I think! Ohhhh, there's a cheering thought!
Well, back to the laundry. That's getting done. :) And, I managed to get the uniforms to the cleaners. Hurrah! I just need to make a decision about tonight. I have to go. You and I both know that. They are saying bye-bye to some of us and there's Mass . . . I can't say no to Mass! If only you knew these gels, you would not want to miss them either! So, Mr. Chief better get home from work soon so I can hand over care of sick child to him.
Please pray that the Health Angels stick by us! I need to not stress about anything - so I stay well. The last thing I want to do when I walk through the door to our rooms at the Hale Koa on Oahu, is to collapse from some virus I left a door open for because of stress.
Ammendment: (Just in case A or J or B reads this - they are my friends and traveling companions to the Shrine and they read this): Gels, I'm still going just thinking out loud here. Don't panic! I have to be really ill not to go. So, storm heaven for all of us that none of us get sick and if SB is sick, that he gets what he needs to get well again. THANKS - you know I love each one of you!

Praying for you all.
You should stay. Sometimes God wants us right where we are....I know this very good!!
Sometimes, you have to bite the bullet...as long as Chief is there it should be OK.
One of these days I'll get up to Divine Mercy...'course, I'm not moving to HI any time soon :)
Praying for you! Waiting on results for my nephew who might have you-know-what (oink, oink), and he spent the night here 2 days before he got sick...
I went tonight. It's always good when I attend. Lovely ladies.
I know I'll go to MA with the group of gels going, but it's stressful when kid is sick and it' might be strep. I'm taking him in tomorrow. We'll see how it goes. The Chief is well able to care for them in my absence.
Therese - Praying for you! uff da! How awful for everyone involved. But, stay strong.
When you said on the phone that you weren't going I thought you might change your mind. It will be a good get away. Time to focus before the move. Enjoy!
Yes, I am praying for you all in this situation, Sarah. Be at peace and know He is in control as you have turned over the reins to God. :)
May the Lord keep you all well and strong!!
