The movers pulled the mass articulated lorry away from the now empty house about half an hour ago. I can only hope our things get safely to Oahu. I just have to keep giving all that useless concern to God. Let the horror stories of others go away.
We are just finishing up clearing out and then we'll come back Monday and clean the house up nice and spiffy.
Well, I'm off to the mall with my youngin's. Squirrel Boy wants a hat of some sort. We'll see if he bothers ever wearing it in HI. It is too hot there, from what I understand. Some things you have to let your kids live and learn, yeah? His money. His lesson. The girl needs a book for the trip. I made her leave behind the three monstrous books she was going to take in her carry-on. She's already read that Eargon series . . . so I suggest she get something new.
Wish us luck! I mean, only for the mall trip. We need prayer for the rest.
Hugs!
update: got the boy a ballcap; the girl two books - 4 & 5 in the last olympian series; got myself the newest book in the Mma Romatswe books and The Life of Pi. So, Dawn, I'll be reading LoP finally! We are relaxing tonight. It's bliss, I tell you. Coffee is being slurped (hi, Kissteen!!) and I'm reading reading reading!!

Maybe he wants a hat for sun protection...never too hot for that. But I agree, he has to make his own decisions. Good luck.
Sounds nice. Books for the trip. OI love buying books. Prayers for your trip. May it be a peaceful and uneventful!!
E - he bought a black hat with a skull on the front. He's wearing it to the side. He's 15. :)
Rosemary - I'm so enjoying Tea Time for the Traditionally Built by Alexander McCall Smith. I love this No. 1 Ladies series.
I'm not a parent, but I like your philosophy of letting your children learn some things for themselves.
And if it turns out that he likes to roast, then at least you won't feel badly for not letting him have the hat. ;-)
Wow, so this is really happening now...the steps to Hawaii!? Exciting!!
Now we have news...Hubby just accepted a new job and we're moving to the other side of the country, from west to east and from south to north! Just 6 weeks away for us...we'll compare notes will we, in July?? Praying you find wonderful friends and a special home and church, Sarah. Hugs, Jenny
Prayers for you that all goes well for your move. Is it always warm in HI?
Rae - yup. Some of my better learned lessons were "allowed" as well. Dangerous stuff? No room to let them decide. Stuff like this? Let them decide.
Jenny of E - I pray you all have a safe, comfortable, happy move and that you also find a wonderful new parish to spend time with the Lord in as well. God bless you. Looking forward to comparing and sharing!!!!
Jen - From what I have read thus far, I can expect temperatures to remain about 80 all the time. Sometimes it will be hotter. In the evenings, I found out it can go to about low 60's. Pleasant with a breeze. I'll be investing in sunscreens. :)
Sarah, i hope you enjoy LoP more than i did. I found it hugely disappointing ater all the hype about it. And it is totally wierd!
Hope all goes well with you for the move :-)
UkOk - I have begun reading Life of Pi last night . . . yesterday? My life is in swirly land at the moment, but . . . so far, it is enjoyable. It is a bit strange, but I can't really say I find it worthless to read. Yet. My friend said it was weird, but strangely enjoyable . . . I hope I find it so (so far, yes) so that I can tell her she picked a winner (for my taste). She usually has me reading awful things like "Brave New World". I read 1984 I don't know how many times, and, War of the Worlds. Weird stuff! But, not far off the socialist mark! Or should I say socialist marxs!
