Q and A Friday Answers

Grandma2Many asks: What made you decide that Catholicism was the religion for you. It is very interesting to me as I left the Church about 20 years ago. You know I have not forsaken my Lord and Saviour but I did leave the Church.

My journey to Catholicism is this: I married a Catholic. It was important to his family that I be Catholic. Old school thinking, I believe. I did not become Catholic until after the birth of our second child, Teenie. I went through RCIA and pretty much felt I knew everything . . . I missed many classes due to illness and c-section, but still "got in" anyway. For me it was more a procedure to go through than an actual transformation. I was Lutheran and I loved God, but I wasn't quite there yet. The real transformation came after I skipped around at many non-denominational churches and even a Jewish Congregation (Jewish Christians that hung onto far too many of the Jewish customs). It was a learning experience for me, for sure, but I began to miss the Church with a creed. It was always clear what we believed. Same for when I was Lutheran. Every Sunday what we believe is professed. I love that! When we came here, to MD, we started attending Sunday Mass and enrolled the kids in CCD. We finally became participants on a full time basis. We started to learn our Faith . . . the more I learn, the more I love it. I love the Traditions, bells and smells, and that Jesus is truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. I like the sacramentals - the rosary being my favourite. I don't know, Catholicism just makes sense to me and It brings me tremendous peace. I admire my husband more these days as he lives out the Faith in front of us, unashamed. It is so important for my husband to do this - to be the leader!

LarryD asks: How many times have you voted for yourself in the Cannonball Awards?

Only once. Honest.

Christine asks: are you going to buy a hula when you get to Hawaii?

I won't be buying a hula, but I'll go see one. And, yes to both (the beer and coffee, but not together).

Mimi asks: Since you are moving to a place where summer is year round - what is your favorite part of summer?

Honestly (like I'd lie!), my favourite part is when it's still quiet in the morning and I'm having my coffee during prayer time . . . either I can be on the porch or I can be indoors with the windows open to enjoy the cool air.

Aussie Therese asks: 1. what would you do if it was illegal to go to mass and you had access to one that was underground?2. What is your greatest fear?

I suppose I would do what I could to attend and assist where I am able at Mass. Of course, I hope that it never comes to that. My greatest fear? Offending God and total separation from Him.

Fun seeing your answers. I don't ask questions, because I like to see everyone elses!

You made me anxious for summer here, where I love to sit on the porch, sip my International Foods French Vanilla (not decaf or sugar free, the real stuff) and say my prayers in the morning...but since I'm preggos right now and save my caffenne for my Diet Coke...I will have to wait to do that after the baby comes end of August....so have a coffee on your new lanae, (isn't that what they call them in HI?)for me!!

Jamie - yes it's a lanai. I'm going to learn a new language, too! I'll need a lot of caffienne for that!!

Yeah, sitting outside with tea and prayer time. For me, flowers are also one of my favorite parts of summer. And Hawaiin flowers? They just might not get any better than that.

Loved your answers and testimony of your conversion. It is a true blessing when the husband takes the role of the head of the household.
I did not realize Hawaii was that close for you.
Thanks for your prayers and encouragement for my mother and our family. They are deeply appreciated.
