The Other Story

The rain came down in buckets yesterday afternoon. Fortunately we all had just squirreled away into our hotel room after having gone to the mall (across the street) getting shoes for the boys (SB needed dress shoes, both boys needed new sneakers). Anyhow, we just missed getting wet!

We all rush around about five o'clock to get ready to go to SB's Confirmation. We are making good time. Had to be there at 6:15 and it was 6:04-something when we filed out into the parking lot. I ran out to get the van as it was raining again . . . keep my MIL, BIL, and kids dry, right? My hubs was coming back from helping set up for this event . . . . the original chapel on post had no power so they moved everything to another chapel. No easy feat, really. I back out of the parking spot and feel like my brake is still on and finally, I think, I must have a flat. I put it in park, take a look and yup, front right tire flat as a pancake. I call my BIL over and he pulls the van back into a parking slip and we call my hubs (who is on the way back to us). He shows up, drives me, BIL, and SB and Crickles (who is an altar server - gets to hold the Bishop's miter) to the chapel, returns to the hotel to shower and bring his mom and our girl to the service. They make it just before the Gospel.

Bishop Higgin's really blessed our confirmandi's, I hope they know. His homily was humourous (he is native Irish, you know!) and inspiring! Let's just say, perhaps after my short walk in life I find it easy to say Yes to the Holy Spirit - so I was diggin' his words! Let's hope the confirmandi's do!

The reception was great! The MCCW ladies really know how to bless our people with fine dining and stunning set up! Not enough can be said for this group of ladies I have been so often blessed to work along side. They really know how to throw a reception - and with LOVE, not mechanical complaining. They LOVE to do this and it shows through and through.

God is good! Oh, and SB's forehead smells so awesome . . . so if you see a lunatic momma walking about with her nose glued to the forehead of a boy . . . you know it's me.

Ha ha ha ha! My boy thought I was crazy to want to sniff his head! You have a precious one there, you do!

When Snorkie was christened, our lovely priest "super lubed" his forehead, so the sweet little hat he wore that day STILL smells of the Chrism...I don't think I'll was it even if it turns the fabric yellow! Of course moms are allowed to smell the heads of their newborns...not so sure how it looks when the boy is bigger;)

Congratulations!!! I love the smell of chrism! Aveda Brilliant shampoo has a similar smell, of course without the, well, blessing. I had used it yesterday on Michael because it was closest, and Andy was confused as to why we had a son who smelled like he had been baptized!
