Aloha

I'm sure there are plenty of shopping opportunities - among amusements - to be had in downtown Honolulu. Of course there are!

Here is the grocery store I used to shop at when I lived on an Island in WA long long long ago. Look at those trees! The Northwest has huge trees.
Here's an old view (how do I know? The Kingdome is in the background and it's no longer, sad to say) of the city I was finally allowed to steal off to in my mid-teens. Seattle was really getting off the Island then.

Oahu's beaches are like a dream, aren't they? Look at it. Soak that in.

Of course, I'm happy about the beaches in Hawaii. Look at this one I grew up with:

I like maps. This one shows in the top corner how tiny Oahu really is. Still, it is bigger than the one I grew up on in the middle of the Puget Sound. I was young and unable to "escape" (just by my age alone and then my paranoid mum) for years . . . but I didn't feel trapped until I was a teenager. I think Oahu has so much to offer I won't have cabin fever or feel claustrophobic in any way. It's good for the soul to slow down.

A map of the Island I grew up on. 23 years, folks, I lived there. I ache in my heart and miss it when I think about the "old days", but the place has changed so much since I grew up, married, and moved away. It was a good life. It is a privilege to be a part of any community for a spell. This Navy life has been extraordinary and blessed.

So, my blogging friends, I bid you a loving 'Aloha'. I shall write again if and when I can (my husband is looking to buy a laptop so it may not be a long parting after all). In any case, you all have my prayers and promise to check in when given the chance. Now I'm up to my nose in this moving business.
Off to another adventure.

BTW: I will draw a winner (booklet, rosary, car rosary) tonight and post results tomorrow so I can mail it out after the movers come and go Monday afternoon. Providing I get the winner to email me their address at Sarahs.Journey@yahoo.com pretty quickly. Thanks!

God Bless you, Sarah, and your wonderful family. I will continue to pray for all of you as you make this journey. I will miss you until you post again, but rest assured that when you are back I will be waiting!

BTW-Hawaii was always my parents favorite vacation-I think you will love living there. Mom and Da always wanted to take the whole family there, but the went to Heaven before that could happen...it's on my list to visit...who knows???

Take care and God Bless!

Aloha to you and your family Sarah! God be with you as you venture out, stepping out in faith of course (big grin) on a wild new adventure. Enjoy those beaches in Hawaii. Dip a toe and enjoy a slushie drinky upon arrival with you hubby, you know, one of those types with bright little umbrellas and a red cherry. We will await your blogging return when you're able to post, but until then, relax, rest, and bond with your family along the way. Hugs to you! :-) May God bless you all and wrap you up tightly in His tender loving care.

Great pics of the "islands".

How exciting to be getting ready to move to such a beautiful place! May peace be with you as you gear up for the move.

On a side note: the pic of Eagle Harbor actually has Quest field (football stadium) in the background. Safeco Field & Quest field dominant the skyline where the Kingdome used to be.

Just breathe & before you know it you will be in HI and enjoying the warm rain :)

take care.
