I don't know how many of you are familiar with or subscribe to The Magnificat, but his morning's Intercessions prayers are so lovely I have to share them with you. Mind, I did only just pray them (it's just after 4pm - I'll explain in a minute).
Let us pray for those with whom we do not live in peace, asking God through the intercession of Mary:
R: Grant them every blessing, Lord.
For those who have hurt or harmed us. R
For those who dislike us. R
For those who look down on us. R
For those who refuse to speak to us. R
Our Father . . .
O God, you have loved us without our deserving it. You have forgiven us without our earning it. You have blessed us when we could not bless you. Grant us grace to love as we have been loved, through Christ our Lord. Amen. (Magnificat March 2009 Vol. 10, No. 14)
Then I wanted to share this little gem found in a book Search and Rescue: How to Bring Your Family and Friends Into - or Back Into - the Catholic Church by Patrick Madrid.
"It is our part to seek, His to grant what we ask;
ours to make a beginning, His to bring it to completion;
ours to offer what we can, His to finish what we cannot." - St. Jerome
My review on said book is this: it's worth reading and having on your shelf; loaning out; and using! The best thing about this book, other than it's easy readability is that it's frank and full of information - and a search and rescue reading plan in the back of the book is extensive. Not that I need that much more to read, but the resources are listed right there! I love his approach: learn something about your Faith, know who you are talking to (evangelising), and PRAY about them all the time. Be a good example of a Catholic - know why you believe what you believe and live it.

Why was I so late on saying my prayers today? I (among many many others) was at the chapel helping a Boy Scout (who attends our parish) with his Eagle Scout project. There were many hands and it does make light work. His project is to create and lay the pathway/walkway in our Children's Garden. I'll try and take pictures at it's re-dedication in April (I think).
What have you been up to today?

Great quotes. Very encouraging for those of us who are impatient that our families come back. I have that book and should refer to it again, if I haven't already loaned it out.
A bunch of us homeschooling moms were talking about this topic at our First Saturday breakfast after Mass, so very timely.
you've had a lot of great stuff to say the past few days. i haven't really been able to delve into everything, but the one on frienship was good. i have really been trying to be a better friend to my IRL friends lately because i am a hermit and don't like to leave my dwelling very often and so it is a sacrifice for me to do so, but i've been doin' it, just to be a better friend! thanks for all of your insight. and i do have a subscription to magnificat, i just tend to read it retroactively. i am a big note taker when i read, so it always takes me forever to read stuff. i know it is a sick habit!
happy saturday. we went on a bird walk today with the audobon society AND to the museum to i am pooped!
Sarah, We just had a blow out with you know who, but it was one of those things that simply could not be helped...he went to a nice party last night, he went bowling all morning for his league, he refused all day to do anything else..homework (not doing well in three subject areas), room was a disaster area ..not kidding, and then he proceeded to think he could play on a computer all day long or tv and not lift a finger...then he proceeded to smart off at his father and it went until......anyway..I turned on your blog and just now prayed this..yes, very very timely. Thank you Lord and thank you for putting this us, Sarah. Please keep praying for us.
You went to work out your prayers and although like you, we should pray them early, well, ooops, but at least you weren't just laying in a bed and not doing anything ...and you are praying here and encouraging others to pray.
God, please bless Sarah for that. :) Amen
This could not be more timely for me! This is really hard Sarah.
I'll have to work on this one.
Thanks for sharing about the book, Sarah, just what I need to buy! You may not realise but you are a wealth of good information and meaty thoughts to chew over.
I do have the Magnificat and it is a gentle blessing daily that allows me to be centered in prayer. Thank you for sharing. I especially like the Meditation for the Day. Thank you for your offering. Cathy
I can only grace y'all with the grace that's been given. I give God the glory and the humble thanks. God bless you all.
Ooooh, good things abound about the Eagle Scout project.
Beautiful post, thank you.
