Snowy (White Like A Dominican)

It was early morning - maybe just after three - that my husband and I got up and checked outside to see if more snow had come down as promised by the weatherman. Boy! They actually called this one spot-on. There's several inches out there - looks like it is still coming down, lightly, but it could be just the wind blowing the stuff off the roofs. Still. It's silent and cold and very white. I appreciate it immensely. My husband has an extra day home with us (we just watched Tommy Boy, one of our fav films ever) and I've been lounging about in my pj's drinking coffee like a mad person. But, it is now past noon and I need to get off my duff and start on some work around here (shower myself then clean sheets, pay bills and all that).

My girl went out to play in the snow with some neighbours. I'm glad she did. The youngest may go out later (he told the inquiring neighbour a bit ago, as my girl came in around the same time). There's probably no way the eldest will go out - he dislikes being cold and wet, just like his mum. I grew up in the Seattle area, so I know cold and wet - I loathe it on my skin. I can handle that weather if I have to, yeah? But, I'd rather be inside with coffee/tea and a good book in this kind of weather. I like snow through a window.

Many things look more beautiful to me today. Why, the Sacrament of Confession tends to do that; removing the blinders of our sin so that we can see God's creation more clearly, in light of His Truth. Life is always more beautiful when Christ is allowed to be present.

My morning prayers were said quite early, but I still have more to be said. I have a renewed energy that only Penance can give energy to. A contrite heart is a faithful one - I pray that I remain properly contrite so that I live as He would have me live.

Wishing you all a reflective winter day and God's richest blessings.

I didn't know you grew up in Seattle. I grew up in Spokane. A lot of my fam still lives there and we're hoping to head that way this summer.

Hope you continue to have a blessed Lent!

I went down-hill skiing fri. night so I HAVE been playing in the cool white stuff.

Congrats on a good confession. Nothing like a soul as white as snow.
