Sorry about the glaring white yesterday, but I was trying to get my blog into the liturgical colours without knowing how to do it. This morning, I was obviously bored enough to try and sort it out. I figured that there had to be some way to change the background colour without resorting to Cutest Blog on the Block (love their stuff, but it takes ages to load, depending on the graphics; and I didn't see any solid colours). I love to learn new things about blogging, especially when I can be patient with the process.
I have a back-up daycare job this morning for about an hour. There will be three kiddies. One of them the youngest of the lady I'm hired by and a girl and a boy whom are in her care. The three of them are my favourite kids to watch. Heck, I like most anybody, really; but, these three are so easy going and so adorable! The mom is going to a book sale at the school whilst I treat the kiddies to their morning snack and play time. It's an easy $12. And, the best part? I only have to go out my front door, walk a few paces and I'm there. I won't be in the cold for long and I won't have to drive anywhere. It's awesome.
The sun is shining and the temperatures are a stinging 18 degrees. Those of you in MN or Canada will think it's bathing suit temp, but I digress. Okay, not one of you feels sorry for me. Fine. I'll be in HI before we all know it, but remember: I have to go through a ton of stress getting there, waiting for a house to be assigned to us, unpacking, and trying to get my daycare business off the ground . . . the first few months will fly by and I probably won't have time to notice the coconuts unless they fall from the tree and crack me in the skull. God, I hope that doesn't happen - I already have enough brain damage.
It's the "only one cuppa coffee" talking. I am aggressive with only one cup. I best get the second cup down before I release myself on the world again. See? No coffee during Lent would have been a bad thing for everyone else. My good friend, Dawn, advised me to give something else up and be nice to the world. Thank you, Dawn. You truly are A Helping Hand. If you haven't stopped by her blog, you might want to. She posts some good funnies, but mostly things current in the world (i.e. news and commentary through the lens of a good and faithful Catholic).
Hopefully the colours I have put up won't be glaring for you - and your Lenten visits will be pleasant.

What I love about Lent and Advent (among other things) is that I get to see my favorite color-purple! Looks great!
A lovely shade of liturgical!
I'm having my 2nd cuppa with ya, good morning!
Love the color!!
I like the purple, too! 18 degrees IS cold, esp. when you're not used to it ... It's 38 right now in MN and will hopefully reach 45 later on! That makes us have major spring fever!
I was out of coffee at home, so got everyone out the door early so that I could drive thru Starbucks on the way to my girl's school. (I got a venti =)
A blessed day to you!
i haven't even had one "cuppa" yet, but this purple is energizing me already! it's funny that you said that about the glaring white because last night when i was reading you, my daughter said-"what happened to her background, i thought she had the clovers?" isn't it funny how girls pay attention to those things?
well, happy babysitting. i am off to assess the damage in the front room before my husband comes home. "the cold" is almost gone and there is really no excuse for this mess!
and ps. i think you're pretty nice to the world. but i will go visit dawn though, she has a very gentle spirit.
my word verification is dostopp, as in dostopp by dawn's.
I also try to wear liturgical colors during the different seasons..esp. at Mass on Sunday. This is pretty
and calming too.
I need to go blog ... I haven't been!
Purple always reminds me of the crazy football team here in MN. Ever heard of the Vikings?
My hometown team was the Flyers (home of Charles Lindbergh) and the team color was...you guessed it PURPLE!
I like it here though.
The last post I hope your oldest can complete is scouts to get his Eagle thing-a-ma-jig. Make him write a list of pro's and con's (probably already did that) THEN tell him KISSTEEN will come over to HI to kick him in the butt for quitting and then find a beach to suntan my arse a little.
Let us know how that one gets solved. I am sure all of us parents went through the start a thing...then quit a thing phase.
have a blessed weekend;)
Therese - purple is a nice colour.
+JMJ+ - would you like another? Thanks for joining me. It was delish.
Jamie - why tanktoo!!
Sarah - it warmed up to about 48 by the time I went to babysit. Weird weather! Ahhhh, I love Starbucks. I brew their House Blend at home. I can get it cheap at the commissary, though, or I would have to perk that Eight O'Clock stuff (and I don't care what Consumer Reports says, that isn't good coffee - heck, I don't even know if it is coffee!).
Regan - as alert and aware as your girl is, she will never need coffee. More for you!! Glad you are feeling better.
Suz - purple is one colour I don't wear well. Like yellow, it's all wrong for me. Red? YES, thank God I can wear red.
I have a light blue tee shirt that says "My other shirt is the proper liturgical color".
Kissteen - Are you being funny or smart with me? The Vikings! Yes, I have "heard" of them. I think my sister in law and her husband are fans. They live in Brainard. Nice place. The go ice fishing a lot this time of year. I will definitely let y'all know how it goes with the Scouting stuff. Right now, they have to hang tight and do their best. We'll see if they continue when we get to HI. It's really between them and their dad. I just want them to be happy. He's afraid they'll get lazy. The trouble with me is: I just want everyone to be happy and leave me alone about it - I want to be in my book or prayers or whatever it is I'm doing to create a sense of calm and peace.
Mimi - you're my cheerleader! Rah rah rah!
Just being funny!
Kissteen - I know that; I wish I could record my comments so everyone could hear my inflections etc. . . . I love ya to death!! You are funny - and I LOVE how you asked me that!!! Hugs, Sarah
is it cold there?
ummm. I was a bit chilly leaving the house today....as there was a fairly strong wind blowing....made it feel a little less than the 80 degrees the thermometer showed.
I love the purple Sarah.
I was going to read your long posts but I think I will leave it till tonight when I have a bit more time.
