I don't know why I put this book down so long ago . . . but I finally picked it up again, and boy! it's brilliantly done. It's simply a simple priests diary of the last year of his life. He's idealistic, smart, and totally faithful to God - yet he feels extremely inferior of his remote country village's people. He's sad and suffering and feels like a failure, but he's really saintly. There are many gems and nuggets of wisdom that lend strength to the novel. He realizes he's sick and yet when he's given his life's pink slip (stomach cancer), he thinks he's forgotten God. But, his ultimate love for God and life will ultimately triumph. I highly recommend this sentimental, yet timeless book.

We rented the film, which was a tad film noir-ish. Bet the book is better.
Hey, I remember you said you were moving to HA in the spring. Is that coming up pretty soon or later in the spring?
