SewMelody's Doll

Finally . . . finally!! I am finally finished with this doll I promised another blogger friend. I can tell you what happened. The first time I sewed Melody (the doll) together, it went wonky in the worst way. I seam-ripped, re-pinned, and set her aside. I had to calm down and take a breather. I'm so new to a sewing machine (last touched one in high school - and that just barely). The second time I sewed her I got half way 'round and the needle busted! Can we all say a resounding 'shite', here?!? Of course, I just couldn't pluck up the courage to try again. I was afraid I did not replace the needle well . . . and the thought of seam-ripping this poor thing once again was just too much. My confidence was in the sewer.
I popped 'round Sewmelody's blog a while back - before Christmas - brimming with false bravado and pronounced promises saccharin sweet. No doll.
Today, I noticed she had found me again and left a comment - and I'm so glad she did! Isn't it funny that when you pray about something it happens? I had prayed to God to help me in any way to get some motivation to finish some projects I'd been neglecting. I emailed her and said some time this week I would get to the doll.
Tonight - I got half way 'round and bugger it all, I had to seam-rip again! I PRAYED REALLY HARD . . . and managed to get her done, all the while shaking with nerves. But she's done and I'm not shaking any more. I FEEL CONFIDENT AGAIN!

The dolly will be on her way this week for certain. Amen.

I really never ever thought of praying about that. I have a couple projects on the back burner I have been neglecting for 2 years.

Praying about it now!

Beautiful dolly!

LOL! She's beautiful!

I am laughing extra hard because I'm having a sewing moment right now, too. I have a custom order I'm trying to finish up and my pins disappeared! Walked off! No where to be found! What am I going to do? So I turned to the solace of the internet to calm my angst before I go looking again ("Whoever took my pins has until the count of three to cough them up before I....").

So, your post was timely:). Can't wait to see her in person!

and she sews too......oh sarah, you are full of surprises. what a cute little doll that is, i've been wanting to try a doll for years, but never had the courage.
btw, my sewing machine hates me when it feels like i should be doing something else. i swear it is as if GOD HIMSELF and the sewing machine get together and decide, no, regan should not be sewing right now, she needs to do the dishes......there goes the bobbin, acting crazy and wasting tons of thread, making awful stitches, etc. and IT DOESN'T MATTER IF I PRAY ABOUT IT!!!.
anyway, happy sewing and hugs to you. you're such a great gal!
how's the move going anyway?
my sympathies.....i try to invoke the Holy Family, when i am in a "moving situation" they really help put things into a perspective. now if only we could fit all we have on the back of a camel or a donkey, huh? talk about DETACHMENT!

Thanks, y'all! Hey, if I can do this, anyone can. Really!

Hope you find your pins, SM!!

I hate to say it Regan, but I couldn't move our stuff w/out a freight truck. Disgusting, huh? Well, to answer your question, the move isn't happening YET. We're in the pre-packing stages, which means: sorting our shit. If the ice machine weren't broken at the moment, my frige would be covered in magnets etc., but as it is, since I know maintenance will be here tomorrow to fix it, I had to clean it off. Boy, it's clean! I packed the extra magnets and stuff and only a few things will go back up (papers for the high school etc). I'm going to secure some boxes soon and box up the books on my bookcase we're selling to a friend. April will be here before we know it.
