Third Sunday of Advent

Sarah - Kala said...: Erika - growing up Lutheran, we used this in our house, too. During the four weeks of Advent, we celebrate the coming of our Lord (in the Nativity, if you will, which is Christmas - there are twelve days of Christmas, beginning on the 25th, culminating on the 6th of January, which is the Epiphany or Three Kings Day). Anyway, the purple is significant in that they symbolize prayer, penance, and preparation; the rose coloured is for Guadete Sunday, which is the third Sunday in Advent (yesterday) and is significant in that Advent is half over, Christmas is close. The point is to experience expectation and anticipation for His (Jesus') Second Coming - when He will judge the living and the dead. The lights are simply symoblic of Jesus is the Light of the World.

Warrior Prayers

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -

The Blogger's Prayer

Lord help me to learn to spell without spellcheck,

manage to visit all that visit me,

and post regularly -
all in 5 minutes a day,

so that I can clean house
and take care of my family.

Help me to not look at every occurrence in my life as a blog post,

and to quit taking pictures of weird things to share as well.

Please Lord, help me to stop talking about my blog friends as though they are next door neighbors or someone I have known all of my life.

And help me dear Lord, to think of something witty and wise to post tomorrow.
