Where God, Family, and Country Are Everything (in proper order)
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful and enkindle in them the fire of Thy love.
V. Send forth Thy Spirit and they shall be created.
R. And Thou shalt renew the face of the earth.

What's the significance of the purple and pink? Not being Catholic, it really has me stumped.
Erika - growing up Lutheran, we used this in our house, too. During the four weeks of Advent, we celebrate the coming of our Lord (in the Nativity, if you will, which is Christmas - there are twelve days of Christmas, beginning on the 25th, culminating on the 6th of January, which is the Epiphany or Three Kings Day). Anyway, the purple is significant in that they symbolize prayer, penance, and preparation; the rose coloured is for Guadete Sunday, which is the third Sunday in Advent (yesterday) and is significant in that Advent is half over, Christmas is close. The point is to experience expectation and anticipation for His (Jesus') Second Coming - when He will judge the living and the dead. The lights are simply symoblic of Jesus is the Light of the World.
Hope this helps. Oh, there are prayers each day; or just on Sunday the family can say together - my family? We hit and miss with that, except on Sunday, we remember and make it a point to.
Hi JOT!
One week left. Hope you are having a blessed advent.
JMJ- I hope you are, too! God bless you! Listen, so far: it's been brilliant. God is GOOD!!
