Half Way There . . .

This is my girl's doing. Her pig, Olivia, has captured her heart once again (after unearthing her in her heck-hole, I mean, bedroom . . . ); thus she must capture her in a photo as well.

This came by post the other day. It's a birthday present from my sister. Yes, my birthday is in October and the fated, hugely LOVED, present only arrived yesterday, but . . . this is the sort of post procrastinating disease that runs in the family. Thanks, Muffet, I've enjoyed my coffee in one of these mugs today.

Here's a photo of all the Good Deed Beads I made (they are not as good as some I've seen on the web on other blogs etc., but you know what? It's the stuff I had on hand and I took a swing at it and they look okay). I special ordered the medals and crucifixes. The blue beaded rosary is the rosary I made for my mum's Christmas. The sticky note pad cover with the 'K' on it I made for my niece, Kealey. I also purchased some stationery for her, as that was what she requested.

Here's a whole slew of more sticky note pad covers I made. I gave one to my girl and the rest I will give away to some neighbour ladies, I suspect.

Last, but not least, the rosary I was going to make for me. Alas! In my heart I heard sweet Therese urging me on to give it to my sister . . . it would be an extra present for her. Our mum bought her a rosary, but won't give it to her until she becomes Catholic. Well, what ran through my brain was: "I ought not to give her this, because what if I hurt mum by giving her a rosary before she's able to?" Then, I heard a still, small voice in my heart, "Sarah, God doesn't hold you hostage; He holds you accountable - because He loves you." So, to my sister it goes, with tears of love wept over every bead.
I get to pick up some scraping supplies I bought three weeks ago tonight. There is something in there I need to make a million (yes, I'm exaggerating) cards by Monday! But, I had to share what I've managed thus far.

I just picked up more yarn. Between friend having babies, and PIF, I am going to be busy! I LOVE the rosaries and good deed beads! Very pretty!

Therese - I'm finally caught up reading everything on your blog. Keep writing! Your boys are darling and I'm so sorry about your parents. It is obvious you love and miss them very much. I'll keep you in my prayers and thank you for the compliments on the crafties. So, you love rosaries? Could you use another one? I learned alot about you by reading your blog . . . getting ideas of what to craft for you. Thank God I have a year. :)

Blessings,
Sarah

Those mugs are just the right size and shape (and I'm very picky about that) enjoy!

Beautiful craftyness.

what are good deed beads?

I have crocheted several rosaries but they don't last as long as the bead and wire ones, or have the heft. I may try to bead a crocheted one here soon for a friend. I'm no good with wire..and don't need ANOTHER craft to spend time and money on!

MM - if you click on the photo of the good deed beads, you can see it more clearly. It can be used as a one decade rosary, but what you do is: the ten beads can be pulled down one at a time as you do one good thing each day. At the end of the day, you pray and give those good deeds to God. These are good things you have done or sacrificed w/out blabbing to someone "look what I did" or "When that dumdum cut me off on the highway, I prayed for him rather than rant and rave" etc.. St. Therese's sister gave her one of these - so they have historical significance as well. If you google good deed beads or sacrifice beads, you may find a site that sells them, sells kits, or will at least explain it better than I have. God bless!

Oh, btw, never seen a crochet rosary. You will have to post a pic on your site. The metal and bead ones only take about an hour of time to make - so not a huge deal. The worst part? putting the eye pin through the bead and bending the pin at a 90 degree angle. There are a lot of beads!

JMJ - great to see you again. Love the pillows on your blog. That fabric is gorgeous!

Mimi - I'm rather picky about my mugs, too, and these are spot on. They aren't heavy either.

Hi! Sorry I haven't been by in awhile. Glad I could pop in and catch up a little. Pretty sticky note covers!! Now, I have to ask, I've never heard of Good Deed beads, what exactly are they? They're beautiful though and the Rosary too!

Cassie, if you read my comment just above yours, it explains it a little bit. Glad you are getting going again. Hugs, Sarah

That last part about your sister is so beautiful, what a gift of love for her. I agree, give it to her now. Both rosaries will be special to her.
