Well, I went to Confession and Mass. It's always worth it. It certainly helped me brace for my three hour long dental visit. I had two overlays/inlays to have done on my lower left (the last two molars). One ended up an overlay/inlay and the other turned into a crown. So, I'm crowned at 39. Lovely, eh?
I was supposed to attend a Gold Canyon Candle party tonight. However, our kids still needed to attend their obligatory Mass so I took them whilst their pop went to Round Table (Scouts) as he and I had met up for the noon Mass earlier today. It was lovely. So many came! Even Father was surprised - to the point he said so!
I've eaten well this evening. A friend brought me some Indian taters and rice - yum! And, I had a glass of Moscato wine. I'm feel quite relaxed and I'll pray still for the swelling in my jaw to go down . . . but at least I don't feel it much at this point.
Thank you God - for everything.

May the swelling go down quickly and may there be no pain. God bless you. (How funny that the word verification is "denti" teehee
That is pretty cute, Rosemary. Thanks for your lovely prayers. Have a blessed night.
I hope you feel better soon! Prayers coming your way!
I hope your poor mouth is better soon! I've never had a cavity, but rarely go to the dentist...maybe now that I'm 39, I hope I don't have to be crowned too!!
Thanks, Therese! I appreciate all the prayers I can get.
Jamie - the background on cavities is: the old fillings eventually have to be redone. As your mouth shifts (in growing/aging) the old cavities shift, too, just enough to allow decay to start again. My eight back molars (four on top, four on bottom) have done this. The new decay has to be cleaned out and in doing so I am losing more tooth, which they fill with a porcelin "puzzle" shape they create right there via computer technology (way cool) and pop it on. It just takes longer than you think. Well, my appointment took longer because the crown was a surprise - and they have to shape your "stub" so the crown will go on. Honestly, my back teeth never looked better - my teeth there look pristine and white! It's great.
The drawback is always going to be the dicomfort (especially when you have jaw issues to begin with) and the COST. But I'm not going to go there (cost).
Oh, yeah, I had a horrible ice chewing habit. The good thing that came out of my rather uncomfortable swollen weekend is: I've quit. Chewing ice is obviously horrible for your teeth. I've found drinking water - really cold water - has helped me tremendously and the cruch I get from pecans or something that won't damange my teeth.
:)
Sorry about my spelling errors, I am just super tired and I cut my index finger and the bandaid . . .
Glad to hear that you are finally taking care of your teeth! You've inspired me to quit the ice chewing as well. Will any of that work help your TMJ?
Dawn - glad to inspire in the good things sometimes. :_)
The problem with TMJ is that it's cranial alignment and other things that are "off". The only real treatment is to HOPE that what you pay out in treatments (guards, braces, jaw surgery etc., among the treatments) will help. Chewing ice and clenching or grinding teeth while sleeping are acts of STRESS. For me, reducing stress will drop these unconscious reactions and reduce my pain and swelling. Ice chewing is part of my iron deficiency and a reaction to stress. Of course, stopping it is KEY to keeping my teeth in tact. The expense of fixing cracked teeth pretty much is what ended ice chewing for me. YES, fixing my teeth will help only as much as I won't be worried about getting them fixed in the first place or the cost involved - it will be done and over with. Does that make sense?
Anyway, the worst tooth (the one that got crowned)is taken care of, which is what had me stressed out for long periods of time anyway. The cost was high, but we'll manage it - and I am not worried any more 'cos it's done.
:-)
