The comments are just as obnoxious. I "love" how the gal says “There's nothing positive that comes to a drug addict or an alcoholic conceiving a child,” she says. “It's a win-win situation for everybody; these women don't want to conceive children that are then taken away from them.” AND, yet she has four children adopted herself from a drug addicted mother. NICE. So, her adopting them isn't positive? Y'all know what I'm saying.
I'm angry about this. Money into providing a new, healthier life for these women is what is needed. And, you know, some folks will never quit drugs - we still can't tell them what to do w/ their bodies.

How come people have no sense of right and wrong. Addiction is such a horrible thing. They need to get cleaned up on the outside and inside.

This story is an example of how very confused people can get about right and wrong when they're not walking with the Lord. Your point about her own adopted children being a positive thing-- thus contradicting her assertion is really good. How sad that the contradiction may not be lost on these kids. What are they to conclude from their mother saying this? Very sad.

Coercing or convincing someone to deliberately inflict harm/damage upon their healthy reproductive systems is evil. Drugs are evil as well but one evil does not negate the other.

Harris says: "There's nothing positive that comes to a drug addict or an alcoholic conceiving a child..." Apparently, she doesn't see her 4 adoptive children as something positive for the world? She's seriously confused.

I know that many Catholic doctors become advocates of sterilization after working shifts in the inner city ER's for the first time. There is no question that the misery they see and the poor addicted, abandoned babies cause this serious temptation to reject the moral authority of the Church. But the evil of ignorance and drug abuse can never excuse the additional evil of damaging healthy mothers and murdering their unborn children.

No one has ever died from not having sex. However, many have died from having sex and have been complicit in the deaths of millions through HIV/AIDS and abortion.

How about just not having sex. Why is it assumed that not having sex is out of the question? What about self-control? Self-respect? What about..I don't want a baby..um..so therefore..I'm not gonna have sex. DUH?!?!?!?!?

My nephew, 10 YEARS OLD, folks..is getting sex ed in 5th grade in San Diego! 10 YEARS old and he gets to learn about nocturnal emissions and how the vagina is always moist. He walked out of the class and his parents opted out of such trash. That info was provided on the first day.

Remember Susan Powter? STOP THE MADNESS!

Oh it makes me so dern mad!!!!!!!!!

OK, that just makes me sick.

Shades of Margaret Sanger going on there--"these people shouldn't be allowed to reproduce."

Shameful.

This is so very sad. We all know the situations are very sad, but like so many have said here..another wrong doesn't make the first mess right..never can and never will. Yes, the answer is to love the addict and try to help..that being said, that isn't easy, yet..God has the last word. I have a family member who was double addicted and pregnant and told to have an abortion or the child would be in a bad way. The family member could not abort..would not abort...daughter is a beautiful woman around the age of 32 and is married with two wonderful grandchildren for the past addicted grandmother and all are grateful to have one another and thank God ..that He had the last word due to maybe even a mustard seed of Faith...I don't know..prayers..always prayers..
Yes, something stinks of a Margaret Sanger mentality here..sickening. Oh God help us to know how to work in these matters. Amen
