After I post this, I'll be rolling up my sleeves and digging in. Each drawer of both carts will be gone through and piles made: rubbish, give away/sell, or keep. Once they are done, I will roll them into the closet beneath the stairs (the Harry Potter cupboard). Then, I will sort through the stuff on and under (ahem) the craft table. Same sorting technique/rules apply. I will then put the table under the stairs, either upright or folded flat and leaned against the wall. The corner space will be empty, but that's a good thing!
We want to buy a sideboard for that space. But that's a later post. Much later, I think.
The "office" in our bedroom. Trust me, this is organized (no before pictures).
The beast of a filing cabinet. We will eventually buy a new one (this one was a roadside find and has seen better days - though, not with us). I will take the rest of the week to organize the paperwork inside the beast.

I am always amazed at how much "stuff" we accumulate, always a ton!!
Have fun organizing
I am trying to do some of the same things. Then more papers come home from school, then something else, then mail...it is never ending!
I think I am getting inspired!! My office is the worst and I will NOT be posting before pictures! Thanks for the inspiration.
It doesn't look bad, really. I agree that getting started is the hardest part. I often promise myself that I WILL WORK ON IT FOR 15 MINUTES (and that's all) and then I set the timer. I'm usually surprised at how much I get done in that time.
It took me two hours to just get rid of the carts (cleaning them out 100% etc.). Ugh!
How am I doing? Freezing and I cannot move. Put a huge basketball in your shirt and try to get stuff done all day. I CANNOT touch the floor!
ah-well. Looks like you have been busy!
I had fun zooming in on the pics! It's like find waldo or something! Love the hairbrush on the file cabinet! and it looks like someone was doing a wiring project in that dining room! Building robots? funny...my word veri says "embotts"
I did something like this not too long ago. My laundry had taken on a life of it's own. It was living, unfolded, everywhere! I took pictures and posted them to shame myself into doing something about it! It was wonderful, I actually got it undercontrol and have kept it that way! What really works for me is to have some type of accountability, like you said. Now when the house starts to get away from me, I just invite friends over a week ahead of time and then clean and organize like a mad woman until the date is here!
