I'm feeling a bit better. My system is recovering, but I shan't be rushing off running errands just because I feel a little perkier. The older two who stayed home with me with similar symptoms are doing better as well.
Thank you for your prayers and well wishes. I so appreciate it.
Now, I am going to take a shower, which is necessary for cleanliness but also for that "feeling better" feeling. Confirmation that I am feeling better . . . and even if not altogether better, at least I'm clean.
I just watched Wife Swap where there was a wife/mom from WA State named Serena McDonald. Burlesque dancer. She went to my high school, in my class. Yeah. Strange doesn't cut it. I was in a divide of do I watch? Do I want to find out she's a horrible person? Well, she has some funny ideas about sex (that kids need to be educated and early) and she was selfish with her "dancing", but she seems to be a good person. I'm glad. I don't remember there ever being a hissy fit thrown, she was calm, and I don't believe she even cussed. Her boys are adorable and very well behaved. Phew.
My kids think I should try out for Wife Swap. Ah, no. No! Never. Never ever. We would end up getting some horrible woman in here, I just know it. And, well, I would likely get sent to some devil worshiper house or something awful like that. You know, most of those shows the families are complete opposites. Sorry, I like fairy tales and such, but I ain't talkin' to trees. And, I hate to hurt people and their feelings, but on something like that I can't compromise. AND, for some reason, I cannot understand when a woman goes into another woman's house and throws out stuff. It's not her call. Two weeks and she's throwing stuff out? I think making people angry is in no way going to make good changes - or lasting ones. And, for those of you who watch the show, don't you dislike it when the guy cries? I can't stand it. In the sense of: c'mon dude, it's not that hard. Of course, that's the military wife in me. I live hard. And, yet, I come across folks that have lived hard harder than me - by choice or circumstance.
I have the "I'll swim these murky waters and die trying than to not try." Buck up.
Serena's husband was 100% correct in breaking the rules of not selling his wife's dancing stuff.
What "reality" shows do you watch? Or did you used to watch?

Is House Hunters or Sean Hannity or Glenn Beck a reality show?
LOL Gramma 2 Many...sounds like my kind of reality shows..or the cookin ones! I have watched that Wife Swap about 3 times...no siree..not me..I just find that rather way out there to be willing to do something like that..it even reminds me of just not something I even think God would like me or anyone to do. Now, having said that..I don't mean it isn't okay to go and stay at someone's home to help if Momma is sick or having a baby or something, but just to stay in another guy's home on the sofa or in a separate rooms..nah..don't think so. I'd be so nervous that I would not even be able to sleep at night. So, that would blow the whole thing, now wouldn't it?! Ha!
Glad you are better...what the heck is this all about..some kind of flu bug or virus? Hmmm....
Okay... can't BELIEVE I'm admitting this... I watched Rock of Love on VH1 for a spell... I knew it was bad, but it was like a car crash... hard to look away! I finally managed to cut the cord after going to confession... I gave my priest a good chuckle over confessing that one!
The only reality shows I watch now are on the Food Network!
That wife swap show can be so weird. I've only watched it a couple of times. There's no way I could do that. I agree, they'd probably send me to some weird new age house or something.
Mostly I watch shows like Project Runway, America's Next Top Model, Top Chef, and 18 Kids And Counting.
Gramma 2 Many, Glenn Beck IS a reality show! ;) I'm a survivor freak and we love love love us some Gordon Ramsey.
In our house it's Survivor and Amazing Race and Fox News...glad you are on the mend!
I used to NEVER miss Survivor, and I enjoyed Amazing Race. I also loved Dancing with the Stars, but I don't know if that counts as a reality show. Since getting rid of the TV ... well, I don't watch anything.
TV? What's that? I'm too busy watching the blogs! :)
Love American Idol-it's the only show I watch, but I'm not sure I can do it this year without Paula. Time will tell if she was what kept it so interesting.
I'm glad to hear that your feeling a bit better:) I don't watch much TV anymore but I used to watch Survivor when it first came out.
Is NHL hockey a reality show?
I don't make telly watching any kind of habit, but I notice on days when I'm sitting here and it gets quiet, I turn on the classical music station or flip through and find SupperNanny or Wife Swap for amusement. In the evenings or days when Chief is home, I'm at his mercy, which includes NCIS (pretty good unless there's a marathon of them running), sports (of any kind), Big Bang Theory (pretty funny), Iron Chef and other cooking shows. We also enjoy very much a show on BBCAmerica called Top Gear. Mind, when I watch, I usually have a book in my hand or some sort of stitching.
By the looks of this list seems like we have a telly problem. I don't think so, but it sure could use some shutting off for longer periods.
I'm glad to hear you're on the mend.
The only TV I watch is NFL games. I have never watched a single "reality" show... not one. I think I might be the only person with a tv and cable/satellite who has never seen "American Idol". I don't even watch the news anymore.
While I don't watch every week, I really do enjoy 'The Biggest Loser' out of all those I've seen. It seems to me that these people are committed to change - a life altering change. When they go home, they spread the healthier lifestyle to those around them. That's a show worth producing.
You have a tv problem? No, we have one...we tivo everything and watch it with out commercials, so it isn't as long as it seems, but still long.
I watched wife swap for the first time when Serena was on and was surprised that anyone would let film crews and a stranger in on their lives, but have watched it a few times since...I think they over dramatize peoples quirks to make for better drama. I saw serena shortly after our reunion and she looked great (tiny--lapband) but uses a ton of make up to cover her age. I got a little different story from her...she's a performer to make a living, and when Real estate wasn't cutting it, she taught classes, and when the housing markets went south, she took to waiting tables...all so her family could live modestly (not extravagantly).
So I decided that reality TV is not so much reality, but over dramatized reality. We watch Dancing with the starts (hubs loves it) and I do biggest loser.
i'm glad you're feeling better :)
Oh come on, submit your name for WifeSwap! It'd be a hoot! Maybe they'd stick you with some pacifist liberal wiccans or something. You'd whip 'em into shape and they'd become God-loving American patriots. That I'd watch fer shure!
No reality TV for me - but I'm like Angela...does NHL hockey count?
