Oh, For St. Peter's Sake!

Here is one of three pot holders of this type I figure I think I could make. My circles are wonky and my sewing a bit off-handed, but the lighting was getting poorer by the minute and my back is just aching from all the laundry and potato soup making going on today. I had to get one of them done or I would just die inside. Honestly.

So, you tell me: would you want a crazy looking pot holder like this? I followed the directions. I think it's cute, but I know that I was making this one as a "mistake figure outer". The next one will turn out much much better. I never "hit the mark" the first time out. But, tell me: what do you think? And, any advice is good, too. I'm not a great crafter, and, I'd like to do better. There's a store in Honolulu that I'm going to seek out and take some embroidering classes. They may be able to point me out to someone who can teach me sewing machine techniques as well. Unless they can. Maybe if I beg?

I was thinking about a pot holder with a white center with something simple embroidered in the center. I have to get my circles un-wonked first. Otherwise, it will look a right stupid.

Also, I need a pellet gun. This lamp is right outside my bedroom window.
I know, t'would be best if I just sewed up some black curtains, yeah?

Perhaps.

But, you see the dilemma.

Is there some kind of tool that will cut perfect circles? And, anyone else have issues cutting on a line with those pinking sheers? I really show my "skill" with this in this example. Perhaps it is more impatience than anything else. A combination?

It is interesting. The circle pot holder. Did you hand sew this? It looks like it on the picture. You did a great job.

I like the pot holder but then I like coloring outside the cirles (not boxes) too because that's when creativity can really flow. It's a great pot and you did a good job.

As for your light, you could always get a sun blocking window shade or one of those things that cover your eyes or put a BIG piece of furniture up against it (like your couch put there sideways?)

blessings and hugs,

marcy

okay, I AM sleepy...it should have been circles not cirles and pot holder not pot, even though this comment looks like I have a pot problem!

I think it looks great, Sarah! But I'm not a sewing or embroidery expert, so I can't give any advice ... I'm glad you're enjoying your crafting; that's the most important part, don't you think?! And I like the blend of patterns—fun!!

it must be potholder season. i just sewed a whole stack and it really is a sort of trial and error thing. i didn't "get" "good" until i worked on my last one. it took me that long to work out the kinks.
it's great. and you tried.
ps. be careful that you don't break that light with your pellet gun...that's how one of my boys got in some serious trouble!

Aim...shoot...FIRE! I would help shoot that goofy light for ya but then again us gals might get into a wooping heap of trouble.

No circle making stuff at this house...sorry!

Suz - send me your address . . . I'm not kidding. If you like it (errors and all), it's yours. I'm not kidding.

Crafting is the fun part, yes, but I get happy feelings giving stuff away, too.

Dawn, yes, this is hand sewn.

Suz - got it; deleted your comment to protect your privacy. Thanks. No payment or anything allowed. I'll get it posted before too long. Likely by this weekend. Enjoy!
