Determined

Here's this morning's sky:

Here's what our view was last night. Those clouds were just awesome.
We visited Hols. See? I told you she was getting fat! She's healthy and being well taken care of, but I think she's eating too much. It hasn't gotten any worse, but since landing in HI, she's gained a few pounds I hope to walk off (and maintain her at one cup of food a day, which is generous for a dog that is supposed to be 8 pounds, not 12) once we move into our house. I'm going to rise early (5am) and trot her happy arse around the 'hood every day. It will help my fat arse, too!

I'll be going to the commissary again today. My husband and I are trying to live with a certain amount of his paycheck, but it ain't working. I told him this morning, we better up the food bill by at least $200 every two weeks. All these extra runs for milk and bread and fruit/veg is making me crazy. We have a "buffer" system and the past two months we have been dippin' in. We may as well just give ourselves more in the working and less in the buffer.

Thankfully this trip has a short list. I do not like grocery shopping to begin with, but to carry the thirty bags up to the 29th floor is getting a bit ridiculous!

I also need to pop over to the candle/soap shop to get my candle refills. Oh, yes. If you buy a candle in a holder, they will refill it with any scent you want at 40% off. I'm getting white ginger, pikake (jasmine), and gardenia. I was going to get the tropical fruit again, but they were out of the pineapple scent. They'll have it again in the three years I'll be here.

I'm going to try and push myself to make a triple batch of buttermilk pancakes (we can reheat them and eat them with scrambled eggs and sausage links for dinner) and a loaf of banana bread today as well.

There is plenty of time, but like I have said before, I am such a procrastinator.

So, I'm thinking about going with a new blog name. I have a few new ones floating about my noggin'. I guess I want to do some changing here and not sure what it is that I want to change. Well, it is still food for thought and will likely come to naught.

Beautiful pictures!! I get into the "baking" mood in the fall, that would be hard in Hawaii!!

I LOVE the look of the blog now, the palm trees, perfect...but I suppose you get sick of it?

New name, huh? Can't wait to see what you come up with!

JL - we miss you guys, too!

Anne - it's beautiful here most of the time and we do feel blessed by it.

Jamie - hope you like the new name; and, no, I don't get sick of the palm trees or anything. They are rather hilarious trees, if you will. There are different kinds and some are really interesting.

GrandmaK - all went well!

JMJ - soup was great! I over ate it. :) No, the sunsets aren't like this every night, but often.

Susan - at least you've been to Maui so you have a real, tangible idea . . . . glad to have you along on the journey!
