It's a Treat!

I had never heard of Thomas Dubay until I started reading Jen's blog. Thank you, Jen, for making mention of this book. From the beginning of your introduction, I felt a pull in my heart to get myself a copy and take a "treat" (retreat) with this book. The book came about a week ago, but I had a book to read and review for the Catholic Company as well as the two "pain in the neck" books about a certain Vampire and a girl who really dug his ice cold hands. Yeah! So, now I am beginning a quiet journey into something contemplative. The Lord has been calling me into this for some time and I am enjoying this walk.

With a lot of this:

And, I think nominations stop May 1st and then voting begins. If you like my blog even a teensie weensie bit, could you pop over to The Crescat and vote for me? I'm really shameless, and, I admit, I want this one! Thanks!

Like the art work. Pretty good job!

Sarah - you don't have to ask/cajole/bribe/threaten me for my vote! I just have a feeling that this is not going to be unicorns and butterflies, if you know what I mean.

Hmmmm....you're my competition! So how about you vote for me and I'll vote for you? Sound fair? :)

Looks like a good book, too.

Jennifer - sure. If I win, I get the chocolate; if you win, you get the chocolate. I'm not kidding! The mini book will be on its way shortly via the post. I did not forget, it's just that I'm a lame-o about getting to the post office!

Thanks all!
LarryD - I know precisely, painfully, clearly, what you mean. Exactly. :)

A good book and Starbucks: how perfect! You're a gal after my own heart, Sarah =) I read Prayer Primer: Igniting a Fire Within by Fr. Dubay several years ago, and it was good. I hope you are refreshed and inspired by your new book! And good luck with the voting. I didn't even know about all these nominations going on!

thanks for your comment in reply to me on Cheeky Pink Girl's blog. I replied there, but I appreciated your words and your sentiment.

Sarah...thanks for visiting me! This is a wonderful book. Take your time since there is lots of food for meditation. I am a secular Carmelite and it has helped my immensely in my studies of St. John of the Cross and St. Teresa. Perfect with some good 'ole coffee!

carmalitemom - thank you for visiting here (me). I'm glad to welcome you. I've bookmarked your blog to add to my sidebar later. In the midst of the mess of moving, I try to get to this administrator stuff when I can. Saying what you said about yourself, I am going to say I'm currently trying to figure out if I'm called to a third order. Well, I'm putting it in His hands. This book is fantastic and I'm going to take it slow. I will not be done before I fly to HI with my family - it will likely be my spiritual plug-in while we wait to find a place to live.

God bless!
