Interview With My Children

(h/t Aussie Therese)
I was interested in what my boys' perspectives are, so I've asked them to answer these. It might be really fun, boring, or horrible, but whatever it is it will be honest. Then, I decided to ask Teenie to join in - it's just one more kid and I don't want to leave her out (and I think she knows me best of the three).

1. What is something mom always says to you?
Squirrel Boy: I love you.
Crickles: Have you brushed your teeth yet?
Teenie: I love your butt.

2. What makes mom happy?
SB: Coffee.
C: When dad's rubbing her back.
T: When I help her around the house and make her coffee.

3. What makes mom sad?
SB: When something doesn't get done.
C: When I don't do my school work in the morning.
T: When I don't obey.

4. How does your mom make you laugh?
SB: When she laughs and tells jokes or her innuendos.
C: When she says "cat cones" (in reference to the Cat Woman film the other day . . . the black leather suit being on the singer-Madonna cone like strange)
T: There are so many things.

5. What was your mom like as a child?
SB: Rebellious little kid.
C: Rebellious.
T: Hard working.

6. How old is your mom?
SB: 39
C: 39
T: 39 (but she doesn't look it) - SB proceeded to say, "T's a kiss up!"

7. How tall is your mom?
SB: 5'4"
C: 5'4"
T: 5'4"

8. What is her favorite thing to do?
SB: reading
C: Spend time with me
T: Blog

9. What does your mom do when you're not around?
SB: Takes care of the house.
C: Blog.
T: Miss me.

10. If your mom becomes famous, what will it be for?
SB: Becoming a Saint. (T says now that he's being a kiss-up)
C: Blogging.
T: Either her comedy or being the mother of famous girl (her).

11. What is your mom really good at?
SB: English/reading.
C: Blogging.
T: Writing beautiful prayers.

12. What is your mom not very good at?
SB: Being a hard-butt. (I suspect he really means "strict")
C: Being mean.
T: Saying no to BK's cheesy tots.

13. What does your mom do for her job?
SB: Day care
C: Take care of me. Doing my laundry.
T: Feeding me.

14. What is your mom's favorite food?
SB: Anything Mexican.
C: Burritos
T: Chocolate.

15. What makes you proud of your mom?
SB: Her sense of humour.
C: She draws really well.
T: She's super super girl. (Obviously, . . . the interview is going absolutely SOUTH)

**SENDING OTHER TWO OUT WHILE ONE BEING INTERVIEWED AT A TIME NOW**

16. If your mom were a cartoon character, who would she be?
SB: A person from South Park (and I'm supposed to be Saint???- really, I do not allow them to watch this EVER)
C: Squidword
T: Sandy Cheeks

17. What do you and your mom do together?
SB: Talk about anything.
C: Watch telly together.
T: Go to the shops.

18. How are you and your mom the same?
SB: We both have the same sense of humour and artistic skill.
C: We can both draw. We both have a sense of humour.
T: We have the same personality.

19. How are you and your mom different?
SB: She prays a lot, I don't. (it makes a difference)
C: I'm a boy, she's a girl.
T: My eyes are blue.

20. How do you know your mom loves you?
SB: She gets Dad on me when I'm failing math.
C: She brings me to Church.
T: She says so and she keeps her promises.

21. What does your mom like most about your dad?
SB: He has good morals.
C: His dedication at work.
T: When he says, "Come hither" (in a weak Brit accent, at that!)

22. Where is your mom's favorite place to go?
SB: The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.
C: Church
T: Starbucks

23: What would your mom be if she wasn't a mom?
SB: A scholar/writer
C: Probably become a nun.
T: A nun.

Took the younger two to lunch at Panera's with Fraps from Starbucks. Picked up SB from school and got him a Hershey's Pie from BK. Friends have invited us to dinner tonight. After dinner, I'll secure the kids at home and pop across Post and attend a Martha's Table event where we will bake pies (well, I think make the pie to bake in our own home). Shall be fun and a full day by it's end. Dad will be home tomorrow . . . I could really use the back massage now that I've tackled this interview.

lol they are great answers Sarah.

I am thinking about interviewing my older children. I was a bit frightened of doing that though because I think they know me much better and don't see me through the rose coloured glasses that Tom and Amelia do.

I started to do this one with my six year old, and every answer had something to do with me being on the computer, so I canned it.
I notice yours mentioning blogging once or twice, so I won't feel too bad! :)

I am also worried about hearing that I "BLOG" too much or that is my favorite thing in the world....cause I do have a life I really really do!

I didn't know you could draw! Show us some of your work!!

I will have to try these questions with my kiddos.

It has been fun getting to know you better.

Come hither!

The perspective of our kids is always interesting... it would be fun to do this every 5 years & see how it changes.

The first answer had it...'i love you'...it makes me sad to think of all the children in the world who have never heard their parents say 'i love you'. I always tell my children every day, many times a day, that i love them. If that is all my kids remember of me, then i will die knowing they knew i loved them. Of course, words without actions are empty, i hope i show i love them too :-)

Love this..hmm...maybe I'll try it..if they aren't too old to respond still! Ha! Fun.

I recommend doing it with your older children, just not together. Ask them individually and do not let them sit near your screen as you type in their answers . . . they do not understand there's no real wrong answer . . . and mine started to get silly then started to fight so I separated them . . .

The one's I have read at other blogs I have enjoyed immensely.
