Wind and Surf

I cannot wait to see many of these . . . .

On this Island . . . .

From one of these . . . a lanai.

For now, I am content in knowing that it won't be long and I'll be there. The first weekend of June we should be on the island of Oahu, checking in to a hotel . . . awaiting our government quarters. Pray our wait to get into a home shan't be long, please?
I've never been to Hawaii. My husband has. I never really wanted to go there. Shocking? Well, I'm not much for beaches, sun, and being stuck in the middle of an ocean. My idea of paradise is England - at least in my minds eye. Many of you would disagree and I know that, because everyone I have ever met has considered me deranged for thinking England a paradise. Well, whatever. I haven't been there either. One day I hope to be able to know the difference and see if I was right or concede I was wrong. I don't mind standing corrected just as long as I get to see England one day, too.
In the mean time, I'll share my philosophy about being a military wife and all this moving every so many years. It's difficult on many levels, but exciting on many levels, too. I'm ready for the change and challenges ahead. The key is: I'll go wherever my family goes, because it's where my heart is. So, I guess true paradise is being with family, because with family you can do anything and go anywhere as what is most dear to you is already there.
Life isn't such an hardship as we know it. Thank God for that.

I'm happy for you. Yes envious too because I love the sand and seaside and sunsets and all that...still, it will be lovely to know and write with someone who will share and tell us all about it! There has to be some lovely inside type stories that you'll have. I think after you first move, though, I'll have to be very patient, because it will take you and your family some time to get settled and have some fun..probably weeks..I'll have to wait. THAT will be hard. In fact, the idea of everyone disappearing this Lent is tough, but I plan to be on and jotting down something of my reflections or things I'm learning through Lent and maybe sharing what I hear others are learning too. It will be interesting to see who stays!
Gotta run my girl to college now.
Later!

I will say a prayer for ya~
Jamie moved around a lot when she was younger. Not sure if she liked that or not. I have roots right now being that I have stayed in the same spot for 5yrs and I like going to Mass and I know people and they know me. I love my family also and would go with them if we should have to move.

I knew a gal that had to move last year because of her husbands job and she cried and cried. Guess it depends on personality. Some can handle moving more then others.

I will be looking forward to the pics!

My parents went to Hawaii once, and it was their favorite vacation. When they were alive, they had dreams of taking all of us there. I have to agree with you-home is where my family is.

Hawaii!! WOW! What an exciting move for your family! Blessings as you begin your preparations ... It may seem far away now, but June will be here before you know it! You'll have to let us know how you like it compared to how you feel now. I always thought it would be nice to go to Hawaii for a bigger anniversary, but now I think I have a couple other places in mind before I make it there (if ever!) We'll see ... Oh, and I agree with your perspective about "where home is"—it's where your family is! God bless!

suz - not sure I'll be making you all wait quite that long. The housing list is supposedly 3-6 months wait, but it's almost always faster than that. I pray so!! We may buy a laptop when we get there or before we go . . . so I may be more connected than I originally planned.

I'll be posting through Lent . . . I think I'm going to keep quiet about what I have finally decided about walking with Jesus through this season, though.

Kissteen - the physical bit of moving I hate - packing and unpacking, but the actual newness of a place and all that is exciting. HI is so exotic, I think it's going to be so gorgeous I won't be able to stand it.

Therese - I'll let you know whether I like it or not . . . but I truly believe that you have to experience things for yourself, because people are fickle.

Sarah - yes, please remind me how time flies and I'll be 40 in October . . . that's about the only thing in the near future that shocks me. What happened? Where did the time go?

Sarah...Thanks for your note. I'm glad you visit often..and comment. I look forward to hearing from you!
I've visited Hawaii twice in my life and I loved it both times. Although, I've only been to Waikiki Beach. There is something about the salt/sea air. I know I live on the coast here in Jacksonville, but the Atlantic and Pacific are very different. I feel that the Pacific is very cleansing and rejuvinating. The Atlantic...too stiflingly HOT!
