Sunday Sampler

Well, I'm letting my little girl sleep right now as her clothing spins in the dryer. Last night she woke me twice saying she couldn't sleep. Well, she is now. That's okay. She and I will attend the 12:15 Mass together. Besides not being able to sleep, she said she had nothing to wear. Well! I doubt that! She did not have what she WANTED to wear. She brought down her hamper after 9pm last night, which is the way they tell me they need clothes soon . . . but she never said to me, "Hey, mum? I'm going to Mass nekked tomorrow unless you kindly run a load for me."

I don't mind going to the later Mass. I'm currently dying and on Midol - I feel like holy hell. However, since I've done this every month for the past how many years, I know two things: it's going to keep happening until it doesn't, and, I'll survive.

Last night my youngest son bridged over to Boy Scout. His brother greeted him on the other side of the bridge and frocked him with his new Boy Scout epaulets, book, and scarf (he actually took off his own tie from his first Boy Scout camp eons ago . . . and placed it around his little brother's neck). I just about died on the spot with love for my boys. But I can't keep going all soft . . . I have this romantic notion that carries me into the future . . . if God so ordains it, my youngest will one day wear a Roman Collar and I was thinking about that and . . . well, the JOY is immense and hard to keep squished down in its proper place.

Eventually, I'll have pics to share - a friend of mine took some and will email them to me then I'll post my favs. I know two I like the best and I'll reveal that one of the two is me kicking my hubs butt. Why? Well, he told every other boy he should be careful not to poke the Arrow of Light pin into his mom's skin. When he came to me and our son, he said, "You don't have to be careful!" All joking aside . . . We're both chuffed about our sons achievements.

I finished "World Without End". It is a worthy story, just I hated all the sex. There was enough lust in the book, I am booting it from my shelf. I know people lusted and had illicit sex in the 1300's but I don't need it constantly and brazenly shoved into my eyeballs.

I'm going to read "The Knowledge Deficit" by E.D. Hirsch, Jr. next. I'll give you a review when I'm done.

LENT. One of the things we do as a family is attend every Friday's Soup and Stations at our church. It begins Friday.

Okay, time to check the dryer and wake a girl and get to Mass. Have a blessed Sunday!

We're having the Blue and Gold Banquet and Crossing Over right after the noon Mass today! How fun!
My son crossed over long ago, and hasn't been interested in Scouts as much as he was. He only likes camp..typical boy, I guess. I would have teared up too at the scarf changeover that went on..how precious! Well, we'll keep the other in our prayers, won't we? For sure!
Anyway, two of my grandboys are Scouts and so we are going to the banquet because they love it..Scouting and for support to all the others. I am making brownies as I write and now must go and dress for Mass!
Have a blessed Sunday, yourselves!

I hope you're feeling better soon, dear. Rest. Then rest some more.

Bless you!

Aww, we loved those ceremonies when our boys were in scouts. Ron and I have been scout leaders for all 3 of our kids--2 boys and 1 girl. Ron is an old Eagle Scout and has fond memories of his scouting days.

Hope you feel better real soon!
