Can you see me sitting next to the fire, drinking a Guinness and reading a book? No? Oh, well. Me neither. But in my heart, ah, well, that's something else altogether.
Where God, Family, and Country Are Everything (in proper order)
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful and enkindle in them the fire of Thy love.
V. Send forth Thy Spirit and they shall be created.
R. And Thou shalt renew the face of the earth.

I don't like Guiness, but I'd take the fire and the book with you!
My dad says the Guinness will put hair on my chest. Not one hair (yet)!!
You'd be welcome company - I'm sure the pub offers many other palatable delights.
Be careful with that Guinness. That doorway looks like it could yield a broken ankle if you're not careful.
SOunds charming! I imagine a spot like that would be full of local color and dialect.
I'll look and imagine, as long as you invite me to share one with you!
Thanks, Dawn, yous always looking after me . . . At least if I come out of the pub the way you think I would, I'd need to be careful. But you know what's funny about that? I'd fall over my arse anyway - being too careful and using over-exaggerated movements to not fall.
JMJ - I think you'd be right.
Jen - Yes! Join in the frolicks of tipping back a beer and avoiding the near ocassion of falling on our arses on the way out. :)
Can I come? And who's driving?
I'd love to have Irish Coffee while you have a Guiness.
I really really could use that right now.
guiness......i've never liked the taste of beer.....but if that is your happy place, then keep the dream alive! =)
Mau - my husband will drive - he doesn't drink alcohol so it's good.
ANd, yup, you'd be welcome company.
Mimi - if I hear you order Irish coffee - I might have that instead.
Christine - me, too!!!
Regan - for me it was an acquired taste. I liked Guinness from the start, for some reason, but there are many beers I don't like. I like Harps, Newcastle Brown Ale, Boddingtons, and those Mike's Hard Lemonade things. We met some folks at this military post who drank beer so I tried some. Then, I met another friend who likes wine and now I like wine. I've always favoured hard liquor - always. Now, this is not to say I'm a drinker - I'm a social drinker and I like no more than three drinks of any kind or I am useless. Knowing that, and having only rare ocassions to enjoy a drink, I usually never have anything. When I have it at the house, it never gets drunk unless I invite folks over. Or I bring it to their house. I just love the idea of having a drink in a friendly little pub. The more friends, the merrier! So, Regan, have a hot tea or something, because you're welcome to join us. You can bring your needles and knit while we chat.
ok, if i'm bringing my sewing to "the tavern" i'll have to drink tea, because one should not be under the influence whilst knitting or crocheting (isn't that a funny word?) but other wise i'd be wanting a glass of wine or something with alize (spelling?) in it, which is a french congnac.
and i never have more than one drink or I am completely useless.
signed,
a lightweight
Regan, - I am so a lightweight. Perhaps not so much as you, as I can get three in and then stick a fork in me. I'm really most fun without any drink (alcoholic, that is).
