Now, That Wasn't So Bad

I had a post I just deleted, because well, I figured the math problem out really quick once I stopped worrying that I might be too dumb to figure it out. Any time I see a parallelogram or trapezoid with numbers up the sides and dotted lines with numbers, well, frankly: my tummy ties in knots and my head explodes. It's not pretty. So, before I left the bathroom looking like a crime scene, I calmed myself by chatting with Dawn on the phone and then tackled the book whilst glimpsing Jon & Kate Plus 8 . . . Base times the Height equals the Area. Okay. I can do this. And, I did. My girl has not a worry to worry over. I will be able to teach her this concept quite easily - and get a good night's rest.

No more tears.

I hate to admit this but my math skills stink. That side of my brain shrunk all during art school. The funes from all the paint and sprays didnt help either.

It is always good to learn it again.

I'm so bad at Math. I'm going to have to hire someone out to teach them as they get older.

My hubby agreed to teach them math once it gets too hard for me!! So far, so good, but we are only up to 3rd grade. I have to admit, I got a sick feeling in my stomach when reading the deleted post, that will be me in a couple years!!

SO glad it wasn't as bad as you thought though, you give me hope!

Ladies. Calm, now. Calm. I was rotten at math in school. Why? I let it frustrate me and never bothered to chase down anyone who could teach it to me. I'm not thick - just some subjects I need to spend more time with. Especially ones I'm not easily friendly with. We use Saxon Math. Although I know there are more ways than one to do math to arrive at a correct answer, we are working with Saxon which takes a logical approach to math. If I sit and stare at the examples long enough, and calmly (this is key), I can usually figure it out to limp along. But there is great triumph in that limping!

Come, ladies, joyful limp with me! You can do it!!!
