PLEASE READ THIS BOOK!!
I am seriously enjoying this book. Wow. I bought it under the assumption it would be very much like The Kite Runner and/or A Thousand Splendid Suns. I did not read the back cover or intro at all so that when I began reading it, I realized that it was a chronological writing of a man who lived it and a journalist. So, I was thinking that I was going to read something quite boring. Heaving a very heavy sigh, I dug in. I'm loving it is an understatement. You know when you buy a book a journalist writes, it isn't always very good. This one is. It is a very enjoyable "article" that you don't mind tucking in to. It reads between an interview (which it is, actually) and a telling to a reporter. Dr. Greg is building schools in Pakistan. I do not want to tell too much here, because all the wisdom (some may call "magic") in this book is too awesome to blurt out here. I couldn't render it any justice. So, get a copy of this man's thrilling journey of building schools for children, rebuilding himself and putting the world to rights in places where hearts are big and generous in their simplicity and love.

I just saw "The Kite Runner" the movie the other night. Wow, good movie. Slow going, so hubby fell asleep, but I liked it. So sad though. SO sad that the things that happened go on at all.
Thanks for the review.
And Merry Christmas to you!!
I'm not going to leave a comment on every post...I'm lazy! Sorry!
Jamie - the book was heart-wrenching, for sure, which is why I'm fine with just having read the book. Yes, I am one of those. I'll read the book first - I usually dislike films after books, except Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter . . . very few others have lived up to the books. It is very sad what goes on - this world has very sad pockets.
You do not have to leave a comment on every post - that can get exhausting, huh? Love ya girl - the Chrismtas card is adorable! Next year, we're doing the family photo card. The camera the kids got is AWESOME.
Blessings!
Isn't that an amazing book? I loved it.
